Fishing
The resort's manager often arrange deep-sea fishing charters through the best reefs and wrecks in the Caribbean, eco-excursions through underground caverns and nose-to-nose dolphin encounters.
deep sea fishing
Off the cays, where the reef drops off to the Atlantic Ocean, it is a perfect area to take in some exciting deep-sea fishing. Take your pick: marlin, sailfish, yellowfin and bluefin tuna, mahi-mahi, mackerel, billfish, bottomfish, or reef fish are all waiting for your pursuit. Blue marlin, blue tuna and mahi-mahi are best caught from April to July, and king mackerel from January to April. From November to April, you'll see wahoo. And April to June is the best time for white marlin. Charters and tackle are available at various places on the island, but be sure to take a look at the FAQs and regulations before making reservations. bonefishing
A popular form of fly-fishing, is a local favorite on Grand Bahama Island. Bonefish are plentiful in the waters off Grand Bahama Island since they are more at home here than anywhere in the world! These quicksilver fighters can weigh up to 15 pounds and are no easy catch. Their speed is a challenge even to the most experienced of fishermen.
The loyal bone fishers like to quietly stalk their prey by wading through knee-deep water. However, there are guides who take those new at this activity out to the flats on small flat-bottomed boats to catch the anglers. Eating these bony fish is not an option if you are so lucky to catch one. You'll quickly realize how they got their name!
