Birdwatching

Grand Bahama Island is a world-renowned haven for birdwatchers. It has the distinction of hosting the second largest number of native bird species of all 700 islands and cays that comprise The Islands of the Bahamas! Birdwatchers will see 18 of 28 species of Bahamian birds that are not seen in the U.S., Canada, or Europe.

Endemic species include the Bahama mockingbirds, swallows, yellowthroats and woodstars, Bananquits and Greater American bullfinches. Some migratory birds such as Baltimore Orioles, Barn Owls, and Kirkland's Warblers can be seen as well. Kayak Nature Tours offers birdwatching tours through Owl Hole and the Coppices.
